Don't be Caught and Reeled in by the Cabo Barkers or spend a half-day at some high pressure Time-Share seminar just to be thrown two bags of ice and shoved off in a boat not fit for your swimming pool. Know whom you're fishing with, when you're fishing and the quality of the boat and equipment before you go. Your vacation is valuable time, don't spend it shopping for a boat just to find the one you wanted is not available.
Fish Report - March 2008

  MARLIN BITE?

A little confused,,,,

Normally before I do my report I surf around just a bit to see if there is anything I missed or news that should be passed on. For some strange reason I saw mostly negative reports or no reports when it comes to Stripped Marlin. My confusion is based on the fact that besides the full moon that just passed we have been hooking up to Strips on almost a daily bases. If fact just the other day we had the pleasure of taking out our new friend from England, Phil Barnbrooke on the Mi Amante and he hooked up with three (Read below).

Along with the "better then normal" Strips we now have Yellowfin running although at this time they are still a bit small at 20/25 pounds. I have also heard of some good sized Dorado being caught and I can tell you the Sierra are still running strong. I am also happy to report that Mako Sharks are running pretty well on the Pacific side.

Bottom line is that even thou this is not the dead of summer where everything seems to run there are tons of fish out there just waiting for you.

   WEATHER:

There is not much to say about the weather except it's here and your not. This time of year reminds us all why we made the trip south with no regrets. The locals are still walking around in pants but "all" the visitors are in shorts and sandals.

Amazingly I saw a guy on TV the other night in Fargo North Dakota barbecuing hamburgers on his back patio and it was -30 degrees! I'll stick to fish tacos on the beach.

   FLIGHTS!:

Just did some checking and "WOW"… there are some really good deals out there. These examples are for flying out of LAX in May.

Alaska Airlines: $216.80 Round trip.
Delta Airlines: $308 Round trip.
Price Line: $268 Round Trip
Extedia: $292 Round trip.

Note: The Alaska Airline Special needs to be booked by March 8th and used by August 31st. May be quite some time before we see fights that low again.

A SHOUT OUT TO ROBERTO & RUSS:

Hi Roberto,
Now that Marion and I are safely back in the cold, frosty, foggy North of England, I thought I'd just take time to mail and formally thank yourself and Russ for the three days of fishing in Cabo that you organised for us.

All the arrangements were thoroughly professional, even down to the choice of sandwich fillings! Our thanks too to Pacho and the guys for their skill on the water and their patience with a couple of amateurs.

The fishing was great but we also loved just seeing the marine life - whales, dolphins, seals etc - down the Baja coastline. The 3 marlin we hooked were the high spot of the trip but it was also great fun hauling in the Yellowfin on the third day.

At the moment I don't know any other Englishmen who are planning to make the 14k mile round trip to Cabo which is a pity as they don't know what they're missing. If I bump into any in the future, however, I'll certainly point them in your direction to arrange fishing and/or accommodation and, who knows, maybe we'll see you again ourselves in a couple of years time. Once again, many thanks and good luck for the future.

Cheers,
Phil Barnbrooke

DAMN DORADO IS BIGGER THEN SHE IS!:

Hey Russ,

Here’s my daughter with her 1st Dorado on Quien Sabe.

Brad’s coming your way. Take care of him. He’s one on the top fishing guides in Oregon.

Thanks,
George

   ROBERTO'S CREWS CONTIUES TO SHINE!!:

Hi Russ:

Want to thank you and Roberto for everything. We fished on the Angelina 1 last Sunday, and had a ball. The weather was outstanding, and the fishing was great. We caught three marlin(let one more get away) and eight nice sized tunas. Capt. Trino and mate Jesus are the best!
